Robsen Dick at the Commonwealth Games
News Brief:
Robsen Dick has completed his Commonwealth Games campaign, with a super impressive 36.93 in the men’s 50m breaststroke. It broke his previous personal best of 38.41, by 1.48 seconds. Swimming in Heat 3 and Lane 7. Robsen finished 7th in his heat and 53rd overall.
Reflecting on his Commonwealth Games debut, Robsen Dick said “I am really glad I got to experience this competition. I came here not knowing what to expect but being able to swim against some of the best swimmers in the world was fantastic and I am determined to ensure it isn’t the last of these types of competitions I come to. I was happy with both my swims, being able to swim two personal bests, I can’t ask for more than that.”
Vanuatu Team Manager, Ben Howard added “Robsen’s rise over the last 12 months, from not swimming for several years to qualifying for the Commonwealth Games, is quite remarkable. I am so glad his hard work and dedication, where he often trains by himself and watches hours of swimming on YouTube to improve, has paid off with two great personal best times. It’s a credit to him and the coaches that have prepared him for the Commonwealth Games back in Vanuatu.”
Loane Russet OLY had an improved swim in the women’s 100m freestyle, clocking a 1:03.44, also swimming in Heat 3 and Lane 7. Loane finished 7th in her heat and 56th overall. She will conclude her campaign with her third and final swim, the women’s 50m freestyle, on Tuesday.
Léo Lebot is Vanuatu’s sole swimmers on Monday 27th July, returning to the pool in the men’s 100m freestyle. The heats begin at 10:30am local time (8:30pm in Vanuatu).
